Just looked up the procedure for applying for a handicap placard for my car. The placard is supposedly free. It used to be that you could take your disability papers to the DMV and get a placard. Now you have to fill out a form with your physician to get the damned thing. It took me three years and countless doctors' appointments to FINALLY be declared disabled. Those documents should be all I need to show proof of my disability.
I don't have a physician. The last time I went to a physician he certified that I was as healed as I was ever going to be (my mobility is limited in multiple limbs, among other problems, from a bad car accident). That's why I was declared disabled. If I had the freaking money to see a physician, I would go get my painful, and problematic mouth fixed.
Why do "permanent" handicap placards need to be replaced anyway? It puts added stress and financial burden on the people whose lives are already a damned obstacle course.
